Age: 65

Sex: female

Date: 11 Jan 1962

Agnes Walsh was found dead in the River Thames.

She was the sister of the governor of Wandsworth Prison, a Brigadier, who was also the chairman of Westminster's housing committee and who had previously been the governor of Lincoln Prison from 1947 to 1952.

She was found dead in the river 17 days after she went missing from her home in Morpeth Mansions, Victoria where she had lived with another woman.

Her inquest was held on 2 February 1962 where an open verdict was returned.

Agnes Walsh had been the warden of St Anne's Settlement at Vauxhall where she was said to have spent her life looking after the old and sick of a poor London parish. Her brother said that she had been suffering from a nervous breakdown.
